About this Webinar:

In honor of (and apologies to!) Valentine's Day, this webinar will help you fall in love with CyVerse's High Performance Computing (HPC) resources provided by the CyVerse team at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC). Through your CyVerse account, you can access HPC resources to do analyses on your large datasets that require more intensive compute power using any of hundreds of existing apps or one that you create yourself. John Fonner of TACC's Life Science Computing group will walk through the HPC resources available through CyVerse, how and when to use them, and how you can extend and automate your workflows using the TACC APIs (application programming interfaces). For anyone with large datasets and limited compute resources, this webinar will open doors accessing and using CyVerse HPC resources to "get the job done!"

John Fonner earned a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he used a blend of experimental and computational techniques to study binding interactions between peptides and conducting polymers for implant applications in the nervous system. He joined the Life Sciences Computing group at Texas Advanced Computing Center in 2011 and has served on a number of projects that help life sciences researchers leverage advanced computing resources, both through training and through the development of better tools and cyberinfrastructure. At CyVerse, John's team at TACC developed and maintain the CyVerse Science APIs and Software Development Kit (SDK) which allow users to programmatically access our platform services to customize applications and workflows to provide additional functionality and scalability.
