The Data Commons provides services throughout CyVerse cyberinfrastructure to help users create, manage, curate, publish, discover, and reuse data on the Data Store .

About the Data Commons

Data Commons LogoThe Data Commons aims to provide infrastructure where data can live as a searchable, discoverable, computable, and reusable resource. Unlike most repositories, where data are stagnant and siloed from other cyberinfrastructure components, data in the Data Commons is directly available for analysis in any of CyVerse’s platforms, such as the Discovery Environment, Atmosphere, or Science APIs.

Furthermore, the Data Commons not only provides ways to publish data, but supports data management throughout the data life cycle, both pre- and post-publication. This includes championing activities like the use of ontologies and community standards in metadata, enhanced data search based on full-text indexing, and research project management. The Data Commons is committed to supporting open, reproducible science and the FAIR data principles.
